It just seems totally inexplicable that an organization which had a very sizeable and reliable income stream, suddenly went into a punitive warp-drive to accumulate more cash, and at the same time slashed expenditure in personnel

The child abuse lawsuits amount to less than 50 million, but the society is pulling in Billions. Some one is either skimming of the top, or the WT has to pay off bribes.

I don’t believe the Governing Body has any expertise or knowledge on financial matters to make these decisions.
Could a group of people that are “NOT” Jehovah’s Witnesses be taking a big cut from all the profits? Could Organize Crime be involved?

I said it before, we are seeing history in the making. I especially see the WT morphing into a cult like Scientology. Cedars makes this same point;
The winds of change have completely overtaken Watchtower in the internet age, and the Governing Body find themselves in a whole different ball game to their predecessors. Watchtower needs to drastically downscale its operations to, say, a handful of branches and zero printing.
In other words, it needs to become like its noisy neighbor Scientology, which despite having only 50,000-or-so members (and an even worse reputation) still has an impressive portfolio of valuable property scattered across the globe and minimal overheads compared to Watchtower.

There were a lot of heavies that were standing by Cosby, but now even those are finally walking away. They don't want anything to do with him. His career is finally damaged and many are cancelling his shows and appearances. As of July 2014, there was a total of 45 woman that have come forward and said Cosby raped them. Finally a few weeks ago another woman who is not beyond the statute of limitation has come forward and accuses Cosby of rape and this time it allows the police to start an investigation.
Cosby’s wife has finally admitted that her husband did have sex with women, but she is saying that these women consented to having sex with her husband. She is the last of the last still supporting him.
I believe the Watchtower has now entered the stage where people are hearing all the bad reports about child molestation, shunning, end of time failure, etc., and even some of the heavies,(Elders, pioneers, Circuit Overseers, Bethelites, missionaries) that were sticking to the WT are finally starting to separate themselves from the organization.
The reason it seems slow is because unlike Cosby, the Watchtower is world-wide and it is using all its resources to try to cover up. But it’s not working like in the past. Things have changed.
I think we are seeing history in the making.

There's only one way elders will listen.
of course it's easy to criticise the bible for all manner of serious flaws, but it fails on a more basic level.. it is just a terrible piece of literature.. this piece on "southern skeptic" is well worth a read.. god is a terrible writer....
